>>>why are sex scandals in the Old Country so much more interesting than here? Spitzer and Tobias had nothing on this guy.....<<<

We are certainly getting OT here, but more than one late German aristocrat is rolling in his given the machinations of the younger generation:

Bismarck grandson dies after 'heroin overdose'

Count Gottfried von Bismarck, the German aristocrat whose hedonistic lifestyle led to the deaths of two people, has been found dead, apparently from a heroin overdose.

The body of the 44-year-old great-great grandson of the "Iron Chancellor" was found on the floor of his £5 million flat in Chelsea on Monday afternoon after ambulancemen were called. Last August, Anthony Casey, 41, who was at a gay sex orgy, fell 60ft to his death from the roof terrace of the flat after taking cocaine.

Twenty years earlier, after a party at Bismarck's rooms when he was a student at Christ Church, Oxford, Olivia Channon, 22, the daughter of the millionaire Tory minister Paul Channon, was found dead from a heroin overdose.

Miss Channon had been celebrating the end of her exams and von Bismarck was later fined £80 for possessing drugs, although he denied that he knew Miss Channon had been taking heroin at his party.

During the trial, it was claimed that the death of Miss Channon had cast a "shadow over the head of von Bismarck, probably for the rest of his life". Von Bismarck later said that he had never been able to escape the scandal, even being accused years later in Germany of bringing disgrace on his family.

The tragedy also highlighted the drugs-and-drink social scene that had become part of some Oxford undergraduates' life at the time.

Von Bismarck said afterwards: "This whole thing has changed my life totally. I have learned a lot about addiction and I intend to change."

He returned to Germany and entered an alcoholics' rehabilitation programme at a private clinic but it seemed to have little effect on his flamboyant, openly homosexual habits.

However, in the 1990s he appeared to have settled down to a successful career in telecommunications. By the end of the decade, he was responsible for developing the German business interests of Telemonde, Kevin Maxwell's troubled US-based telecoms company, which collapsed in 2002 owing £105 million.

He settled in London and became chairman of AIM Partners. His neighbours in Chelsea appeared to like him and said they were unaware of parties at his flat until Mr Casey's death last year.

A friend described him as a man with "great charisma and great magnetism" who would display impeccable manners and considerable wit on the London social scene.

Last weekend, however, the estate agent who was selling von Bismarck's flat was contacted by members of his family concerned that they had not been able to reach him for several days.

Ambulancemen and police went to the flat and found his body reportedly surrounded by drugs paraphernalia.

The coroner has been informed and an inquest is expected to be held.

Bill Clinton set the bar really high for sex scandals. It takes serious effort and creativity nowadays to get "shelf space". ;>)

I guess this chick finally found work

Message 24336614

Could you imagine being in a position to have to do this:

"Mosley has asked for a meeting in Paris so he can present his version of events to the motoring world."

He'll probably start like this: "I'd like to explain to all you guys I have to work with, as well as the general public, the intimate details of a five-hooker night involving me getting flogged."

I think I'd rather resign
