Habit, Russia will align with certian parties in the ME (agree), they have already done so. (and Putin is no fan of the West and has made that very clear!) And in all this, I would not rule out an outright attack on Europe. (which seems outright not possible due to France and Germany miltary and nuclear capability......is this possible? Do you attack before they are a threat to yourself and your energy reserves, which Europe is so in need of for its future?)

The next decade gonna be so outright radical in so many ways....so many. Downright ugly if you want my opinion.

-we face outright problems with nature and its ending cycles
-we face outright problems on the political front due to scary technologies on the war front and all centered on the energy grab (with war machines floating out in space!)
-we face outright problems due to money, credit and debt
-we face outright problems on so many fronts and lack leadership
-add in population with much of it third world and hungry.....

The way I see it, something has to give and will.

Look at the angry mobs just for an Olympic Torch!
