My bird hasn't returned either, since I shooed him away the other day. I should say, I haven't seen him if he did drop by. But, the spot he was pecking on doesn't look any bigger than it did then.

All this talk of woodpeckers. I have a lot of windows in my house and many on opposing sides so I get a fair number of bird strikes. Last night was a pileated woodpecker. I mean I'm amazed the thing didn't come through the window. I leaped out of my chair wondering what the heck. So I look out and there it lays but it's blinking. So I walked out and picked it up and set it on my hot tub lid as my neighbors dog was out and sniffing around it. After about 10 minutes it sat upright and about 5 minutes after that flew away. Success!
