Disagree. Young 20's and even into the 30's are often running away from their parents beliefs.

Why do you insist on blaming the Republicans for every ill in the world---.

I am perplexed at your surprise. For over 7 years, the GOP has been in control of the most powerful nation in the world. You didn't think your reach would be far and wide? During that time, cooler heads urged Bush to move more slowly. He ignored them. Congress was chastized for its poor spending habits.....to no avail. A major American city was left to die. Torture became de rigeur for the largest democracy in the world. Bizarre things like Terry Schiavo happened on a regular basis. You were patriotic only if you called french fries, freedom fries. Bush and the GOP have left a legacy that will soon not be forgotten and will be in the history books on how not to run your presidency.

Because in the last 7 years, the Republicans have been the prime movers behind all of the major problems we have now:
* no energy policy or plan to become energy independent
* no moral standing to demand that other countries respect human rights, because we torture and imprison people without due process
* no moral standing to demand that other countries don't go to war unilaterally, because we do whatever we want
* massive loss of prestige and are now ranked as one of the most reviled nations in the world according to the latest survey, only ahead of North Korea
* increase of national debt to $10 trillion from $4 trillion when Bush took office
* incapacitating our military by engaging in a war that is now running longer and has been more expensive than WWII
* loss of the myth of America's invulnerability due to the horrible execution of the war in Iraq
* sub-prime mess and economic fallout, because the Republicans are too busy governing Iraq to properly administer this country and our own economy

Need I go on? Bush has been a disaster and the Republican majority Congress followed his lead without question for 6 years, before the voters gave a majority back to the Dems. Now they are locked in a stalemate until the Dems get a bigger majority in the upcoming elections, and get Obama for President.

Then the work begins to clean up Bush's and the neo-con's mess.

MJ,
why don't you accept the fact that our Republican Party was stolen from us, admit their mistakes, and then act to make a difference? That is why I am now a registered Democrat for the first time in my long life. I won't sit idly by while the neo-cons rape and destroy this country.
