Found the answer from the BLS. The labor participation rate does exclude the self employed. However, they do a household survey to try to capture the rates of unincorporated self-employment. They say they have not risen appreciably in recent years.

Just look at the two graphs and forget the trend line in the one. You really think those two shapes are similar? Ouch!

Regarding the mid 1900's, Scientists have done a reasonable job of showing attribution for that cooling as well.

I have zero doubt that IF the LFPR curve were global warming, most people would be seriously doubting that it was driven mostly by CO2.

AFAIK, LFPR includes self-employed. It includes the unemployed so I would hope it included the self-employed.
