I don't know if either candidate knows how to stop the printing presses which keeps turning out toilet paper--opps I mean dollar bills.

I read an estimate the other day that the monetary supply has increased by 70% since 2002. We don't for sure because the government in its wisdom has stopped publishing the 'M3" figure.

Dismal Scientist, can you shed any light on this?

PS. Everyone buy some gold & oil stocks.

We're already in a box of Bush's making. Now we're trying to get out of it. When the dollar is strong, we can afford to borrow more to stimulate the economy. But when the dollar is in the toilet and is in imminent danger of losing its reserve currency status, we cannot borrow more for fear that the dollar will collapse and hyper-inflation will reign.

I understand your point, but you are using tools that worked when the economy and dollar were on MUCH sounder footing. We no longer have the luxury of stimulus through borrowing. It will kill the goose.
