I am sure todays public schools are the same as ever. Reflecting the human condition. The public schools reflect the culture at this time with the good, the bad and the ugly.

Both of my children went to the local public schools through high school; and both have grade A educations and both subsequently successfully competed in the finest universities in the country with no trouble whatsoever. They were both prepared just fine for university by our local public teachers.

I see no difference at all. Idealism is an ilusion. The great John Stewart Mill once lecturing to a bunch of nature uptopians said: "let me tell you what nature is, it is a fawn with a broken leg being brought down by a couger" paraphrased-lol.

All of us are nuts to one degree or another and we all have terrible blind spots. So we all just struggle for sanity. Our teachers reflect this human frailty. The idea someone out there knows something more profound has escaped all of my academic detective work.
