The AUD is overvalued vs. the USD but it's not at Pound/Euro levels of ridiculousness. Research shows that purchasing power parity only applies in the very long run and currencies can remain apparently overvalued compared to historic norms for a very long time. I added the historic norms because the Swiss Franc has been overvalued vs. USD for as long as I can remember. Also there is the tendency for developing country currencies to be undervalued.
