america has never been so in debt before.. America has been more in debt compared to the size of its economy. In any case even if we hard really never been in as much debt before that point isn't directly relevant. It doesn't "prove me wrong". It doesn't show that trade is a positive factor at increasing American wealth. We have such a large national debt because our government spends so much money, not because we trade a lot with the rest of the world.
