So...if you saw pictures of OUR soldiers being treated like that you would have just "laughed it off"? It wouldn't have bothered you because you know that "boys will be boys"?

I would not have called it torture, because there is just no way you can call it that (I understand McCain's position is different, but his perspective is unique). And I would not have gotten balled up about it. Were I a soldier and captured, I'd much prefer to be treated as those individuals were than the way they have treated OUR soldiers, I can say that much.

I do get balled up about our dead soldiers being dragged through the streets, beheadings, soldiers being beaten or murdered.

The things is, it wasn't just the stuff in those pictures, even though those were hideous and indicative of a total lack of command control, it was the OTHER stuff that's been reported about guys being hung up for hours or beaten to death.

If those things happened, they shouldn't have. But I don't know that there is any evidence they did.

You don't just win wars militarily, you also have to win wars by winning the hearts and minds of the populations you are embedded in. What we've done in these wars is actually RECRUIT people for the other side.

The military didn't do it. Bush didn't do it. Who did it? The soldiers who acted inappropriately. The media turned it into a bigger story than it ever should have been. For that, I pretty much blame the ultra-liberals at CBS news.
