didn't try to come across public vs private.. i am sure there are private ed that teach how to beat no child left behind tests. the system is broke , what are alternatives to prepare children upon graduation to be productive.

we know hs certificate means little when these kids apply to work and cannot fill out a job application. Why shouldn't our education system spend the time teaching them basics and let the private or public school systems teach remaining subjects as electives? those who show interest and families that support their children's education will take advantage of electives. Meanwhile, teachers can concentrate on making those who show little interest in higher education or any education may be able to at least get some basic knowledge into the children.

we have huge drop out rates from schools. we should concentrate on basic subjects even if they drop out later they will have some foundation. We only have so much time available while they attend school to get their attention. i doubt anything ever gets accomplished with homework other than with self starters or families who are interested in making sure their children get an education.

i do favor early training for children increasing opportunity for learning a trade or profession while in school.
