Clinton was boom times. You cant compare todays economy to when clinton was able to raise taxes without negative effect. Hell in boomtimes 60% end tax rates are still worth the risk because there was so much money being made. Today we are in a severe systemic recession on the consumer side. You dont want to kill whats left of the consumer even if the consumer is buying a Harley. In todays world we need to incent consumers to spend, not to take their money whether they are so called rich or just plain middle class. I am going to drop this because at this point we realy dont know obamas view here. We do know that he has changed rhetoric.
