"Because he deliberately skews his report."

What facts were 'skewed'?

Admittedly, it's a newspaper opinion piece and the guy expresses an opinion at the end of it, but the two main facts he referred to don't change if you are 'Liberal' or 'Conservative' or 'Hindu' or 'Shiite' or 'Martian':

1) the alarmist annual projections of the imminent 'bankruptcy' (great for selling newspapers!) keep getting pushed back further and further into the future each year that the government issues it's projections. And,

2) If the US economy can simply average somewhere close to a 2.9% or better annual growth going forward (the average growth rate over the past couple 'o decades is 3.4%) then, even without any reforms or changes at all, the government actuaries project no failure of the system 'ever' (out to the limits of their extrapolations....)

Re: "It is an attempt to derail the political will to fix Social Security."

What alleged 'will' for reform? LOL!

(How about MUSTERING UP a little 'will' to reform the *much larger* fiscal problem posed by our disastrous health care system and the government health care transfer payment programs Medicare & Medicaid?)
