Most people don't work in post-grad studies. When I got my MBA, I quit work and did it purely on loans and a little savings. I didn't have time to work except during the summer. As far as undergrad, I think it's a pretty safe bet that Obama had to work, since we know he had to borrow to attend. Anyone who received financial aid and has student loans with preferred gov't rates will tell you they require you to work for the privilege.
