I've always said we hit 50% or slightly higher when all taxes are taken into account. Assuming of course that you aren't making 250K a year.

I'd bet that most Americans already pay 35+% of their income to taxes of all sorts.

After my last tax bill, I'm thinking you may be a bit on the conservative side.....<g>

Contemplate our very taxed state of being:

Employment tax: 15.3% (half paid by employer)
Income Tax - Federal 19% (average - your figure)
Income Tax - state 5% (WAG)
Real Estate Taxes 5% (WAG)
Sales Taxes 6% (average - WAG)
passed through business taxes 2% (WAG)
----
>52%


For Average Americans roughly half our wages go to pay taxes.
