I've never said anything that happened there "made me proud". I've said it is NOTHING compared with the way our soldiers have been treated in EVERY war, including this one.

In war, it is a consistent fact that soldiers become hardened to what is going on around them and can commit atrocities. But we need to be reasonable about what we brand as torture, and about blaming the wrong people when they occur.

If you have a protracted war, you are going to have some atrocities. The United States soldier has always been the least egregious in these activities amongst any of the parties fighting in a given war.

As to whether the photo is real or photoshop-ed, that would be a determination someone else would have to make. Personally, I suspect that it is, but have no way to know either way.
