You are correct, AT&T, my home phone and DSL provider gives me free WiFi at Starbucks, (I don't drink coffee) and McDonalds. I have used it at McDonalds. I believe there may also be other partners that provide free access at McDonalds, to the customers of thos partners.

I would never pay for wireless broadband access because the carriers charge too much. So I will continue to use free WiFi where ever I can get it. Perhaps if the carriers charged less for services, more people would adopt them. I am thinking MediaFlo and Wireless data for my laptop. So if I have to go a few blocks to McDonalds to get data when I am on the road, then so be it.

I don't have money to burn for luxuries, and until prices of some services come down, adoption by the masses will not occour.
