On a GDP-per-capita basis, Chinese government is far more able to provide for its people than US government can do for Americans.

That doesn't even make enough sense to refute. You provide for your people or you don't. The "on a GDP-per-capita basis, makes the statement rather bizarre. In any case its not an issue of which government provides better but rather who gets provided for better. The answer isn't "the people of China".

Finally, in your analysis you simply assumed that the next lowest cost supplier will simply fill in China's shoes right away.

I assume not such thing. I talked about how there would be disruption. It would be neither smooth, nor immediate, at least not in all cases. But it would happen. The US would still get the goods and China would lose its most important export market.
