Democracy and taxes have nothing to do with each other. I do not object to adjusting rates based on new realities and the existing conditions. However its sheer stupidity to disincent folks now in a time of what may become severe recession. Bush screwed up worse than you imagine but a vendetta against the rich and raising taxes to 64% of the last dollar earned in some cases at this time makes no sense at all. I want to live in a country where all boats rise to a higher level and not all boats sink into poverty. For me this is a very important point.
