Mrs. Post's camp was a series of sleeping cottages and one sizable lodge building where everybody ate. It was more like a resort that a mansion. She had a lot of Adirondack Guide Boats there. They are like a cross between a canoe and a rowboat. The ribs are made from spruce stumps to get the curvature of grain without bending it. The closer you get to NYC the tighter those camps and estates are, and some have iron fences. We were never denied access to them, but I got the feeling that some were owned by the mob.
