from staff reports

LOCKPORT -- The Lockport High School baseball team continues to find ways to win.

Senior outfielder Anthony Munari delivered a two-out, bases-loaded single in the bottom of the eighth Wednesday to drive in 2 runs to give the Porters a 5-3 win over Homewood-Flossmoor in SouthWest Suburban crossover play.

John Cisna homered in the third inning. Mike Aguilar's 2-run homer in the sixth tied the game 3-3. Munari had 2 hits.

Sean Forte (4-0) got the win in relief for the Porters (9-1, 2-0). He allowed no runs in 4 innings.

LOCKPORT -- An early offensive outburst by the West Aurora baseball team was erased by a Lockport Wednesday. Despite scoring six runs in the first two plus innings, the Blackhawks fell 12-7.

West Aurora (4-2) took the early lead when left fielder DJ Smith (1-4, 3 RBI) annihilated the fifth pitch of the game, sending it over left field wall with the first two runners aboard giving the Blackhawks an early 3-0 advantage. They added another run shortly thereafter.
Fast start

West Aurora scored five runs in the first two innings, but could only manage one the rest of the game.

"I thought we came out of the gates in first, we hit the ball pretty well," Blackhawks coach John Reeves said. "We put together a bunch of hits right away, scored some runs. We kept them at way a little while."

Blackhawks starting pitcher Jeff Etter (2-1) gave up three runs in the bottom half of the first, but West Aurora started to pull away by adding two more runs in the top of the second. After catcher Kyle McCradic (1-2, 2 BB) doubled off Williams to lead off the third, Lockport (6-1) turned to show-stopper Sean Forte (3-0).

The Blackhawks had a hard time adjusting to Forte, and were only able to muster one run in the five innings of relief tossed by the Porters' bullpen. Baseball: Lockport 12, W. Aurora 7
