I can unequivocally state that all the churches I have attended have been vastly more spiritually oriented than politically so.

Being with like minded people in a church certainly is a major draw. I belonged to a church whose national leadership became increasingly apostate for the last, maybe 40 years. After repeated encouragement to alter its ways, the leadership said "forget it, we're in charge here" and snubbed the more orthodox minority. So a group of about 140 from the church I attended simply incorporated a new church, affiliated with an international group that has it right, and left. This relatively new international group is planting a new church in the Americas at the rate of one every 6 or 7 weeks. There is no mention of politics from the pulpit. We study scripture...as it should be.

Being part of a "group" is the pull of Religion.

Not for me.

I read the previous replies, And the post you replied too.
Being part of the Group has little meaning to me.
I find engineers in general far more fun than Catholics.

Every Church or parish I have been a part of, 5, and all others I've attended once or twice for many reasons have all been very very un-political.

I have no problem with any church's getting involved with political issues where morality is a factor of policy. But the methods of involvement should be ethically beyond reproach.

Obama's church preached an evil doctrine of hatred and racism.
The doctrine and those who advocated it and sat quietly on their asses should be noted and held accountable for their doctrine.
