t the most political thing I have ever witnessed I attended a Unitarian Church here in Honolulu right before and after 911, and they were so far left they couldn't walk straight. They were ready to "dialog" with the Terrorists.

Once many years ago I heard a minister make an offhand negative comment about liberal newspapers in the pulpit. Then in another pretty large church here in Houston, I saw a minister mention that a couple members of the congregation were standing for office - don't remember what for - and at his request they stood up. He didn't tell or ask people to vote for them or anything, just recognized them as running for office. I'm sure it didn't hurt any of course. Those are the ONLY mention of politics I can remember in a church. It just usually doesn't come up. I guess the second incident was okay. But the minister who made the liberal newspaper comment was wrong to do so. Even if he was right in what he said, he shouldn't be in the position of maybe turning people off to his more important religous message because their political sympathies are different.
