JimisJim, I'll second your thoughts on rig workers.

I can attest from first hand knowledge that drilling contractors don't give a crap about their people. For them it is money #1, iron #2, people distant #3.

I fully expect the contractors to become more globalized, and to see more low wage workers over time. Kind of like the shipping world where crews are asian and work for a small fraction of westerners.

I do disagree on one thought - that more automation reduces workers. So far has been shown to be the opposite. The guys might be ETs vs. throwing tongs - but headcounts are going up.
