Krugman continues to be a thinly-veiled shill for the Clintons, as he always has been.

You know, John, while all that is very sad, there are other questions to ask. The first one I would as is what in the world is a woman who doesn't have $100 doing having a baby. Even assuming that she can get through the delivery with no money, how is she going to be able to raise a kid? My heart stops bleeding when I see such irresponsibility. I feel for her kid, had she produced one, but not for her and I sure don't blame the system. The world doesn't owe you kids.

“I mean, people have access to health care in America,” President Bush once declared. “After all, you just go to an emergency room.” Not quite.

That statement is kind of like when Bush seemed surprised that gas could hit $4. If you don't have a comprehensive energy policy and a conservation policy you basically are left with 'expressing surprise'. In the health case, it's unfortunate, by the time a diabetic gets to the emergency room it may be amputation time, which will be covered at great expense, whereas monitoring and education was tried at some New York area hospitals and stopped as reimbursement was not sufficient...

Regards,
John
