Western Metals gets copper-zinc project

news.theage.com.au

Western Metals Ltd has reached an agreement to acquire the Parys Mountain copper-zinc project on the island of Anglesey in North Wales from UK-based miner Anglesey Mining plc.

If it is successfully developed, it will be the first new metalliferous mine in Britain in 30 years.

The Parys Mountain region has yielded more than 300,000 tonnes of metal before mining ceased in the early 1900s.

The consideration for the acquisition is $29.1 million in a combination of cash and shares.

The news sent Western Metals' shares 2.3 cents or 31.51 per cent higher to 9.6 cents at 1231 AEDT.
