Why don't we just have the government take over every cost, then our manufacturers will be real competitive right? No one is arguing the cost goes away. The argument is quite simple. US companies are at a cost disadvantage as against companies from countries in which healthcare is financed out of general tax revenue. Not a hard concept to understand. There are multiple other reasons to prefer a universal single payer health care insurance system. This is only a corner of that argument.
