I don't think that's at issue. What's at issue is taking people in now vs taking them in when we have finished. Perhaps the difference between you two is that you think we're already finished and Tim thinks not yet.

We are morally responsible not to abandon the people who would be in a lot of danger because they helped us. But as long as we are there we have not abandoned them, and if Iraq becomes relatively stable, than it would not be abandoning them even if we didn't let them immigrate. As for those who have not been working with us at all, there is no issue of abandoning them. Your standard random Iraqi citizen has no moral claim on the US for the US to bring him or her over here.
