How else to explain their stubborn adherence to guns, religion, the Republican Party, etc?

The clincher is that rural PA votes Democrat. That doesn't quite fit the mental process of liberals. Democrats that are religious, anti-illegal immigration, gun-toting maniacs? Cannot compute.

If Obama is nominated, I say he just lost Pennsylvania. He may get Philly, but the rest of the state is pissed, I'm sure.

I've been exposed to both segments of society, the intellectual and the working class.

In a frank self-analysis, I'd have to say I have one foot in each.

The working class people I've known will put you up for the night, feed you, give you the shirt off the back, stay with you for decades, and can change a flat tire.

The intellectual class will argue with you about politics.

That's the principal difference between the two.
