"Now from what Obama says, it doesn't appear he has taken much, if anything, from the reverend's negative message."

This reverend has thousands and thousands of hours of positive messages, and positive work, in the black community. He has a life time of service- to his community, and to this country. Of course Obama would take more positive away. It's ludicrous to expect Obama not to have been influenced by much of what the reverend accomplished. I see on some other boards talk of "cutting military veterans lots of slack"- well not only was this man a tremendous force for good in his community, he was a veteran, at a time when blacks were not exactly welcomed in to the military.

As to who has more influence, I would go with the spiritual advisor over a staffer. Time doesn't have anything to do with it.

Then I would respectfully say you have little or no experience working with politicians and their staffs over any length of time, which I do. We will agree to disagree with that caveat.
