Most of the libertarians I have read or talked to are very intelligent, more so than most liberals or conservatives. It is a very intellectually-sound political philosophy, but one whose viability depends a lot on how trustworthy the individual is in society.

Therefore, to simply dismiss the idea that lower government spending is good for society is to place your faith in an ideal where government can solve any and every societal problem.

Probably. But they also are things only a small portion of libertarians would support.
