Indeed. It seems to me that the responsible thing to do when that happens is to "smack 'em up the side of his head," which is what I did. No enabling from me. <g> If anyone has any better approach, I'd like to hear it.

I have read that when people are depressed and saying things like "it will never get better" or that "no one loves me" that the worse thing you can do is to tell them they are mistaken, that things will get better or that everyone loves them because contradicting their judgment further undermines their self confidence and makes the depression worse. So I'm willing to acknowledge that my approach could be misguided. Dunno.
