I lucked out.
My Italian was brought up on:
health.learninginfo.org
rubarb,mushrooms,asperagus, grapes. Always had an herbal garden. Large bags of flour and rice and Cannolini beans.
Gina remebers her mom Maria shopping for 9 with 10 dollars for the week.
Her dad Sal made $40 a week.
On sundays they made biscotti and pasta for the week.
Her family could not afford meat other then live chickens for eggs in a chicken coop.
She judged wealth by if families could afford colds cuts, they were wealthy.-ng/G-
She grow up in Boston`s hyde Park section with an outhouse.
She refuses to go camping today as she has grown accustomed to 5 star hospitality. My mistake for the big impression when i met her i took her to Italy for 6 weeks.
