Those type conferences exist to be trotted out as defenses by employers should they get sued for discrimination. Probably most people who make a living running them are liberal academics with their own set of prejudices and biases.

OTOH, one my company has sent people to was run a black female formerly employed by the company. She seemed pretty broad-minded and unprejudiced herself. The hot topics in the sessions I attended involved male engineers expressing resentment over favoritism to female engineers who were criticized for not getting out in the midst of the nitty gritty enough and similar things. The lady running the course was pretty respectful and seemingly understanding of what they were saying. The one person who tried to verbally slap down what he saw as sexism was a lawyer (himself a white male).
