I wish I had taken notes while my roommate gave me a lecture on global warming last weekend. I think I mentioned here last week that she teaches a college course on it, and has her PhD in analytical chemistry and some kind of physics from MIT. She thinks Gore is a joke, and that the figures are grossly misrepresented, that most people don't have any idea how long these normal cycles are, or the meaning of the variables, and how very small the actual change in CO2 has been (it was something like an increase from .1 to .2 in a zillion parts over years- that's what I heard, not what she said :)-- -she gave me lots of numbers but I zoned out, as I always did in science classes.

Anyway, she is definitely not a believer in the kind of global warming issues that have been politicized. Understanding them takes way more background than most people have.
Since I know her well, and trust her intellect and conclusions, I have taken global warming off my list of concerns for now. When she tells me to worry, I will.
