Depends completely on the issue. So we can put positions on issues on the continuum but not people? No matter how consistently their positions on issues fall in the same area of the continuum? Interesting. I'm not fond of the continuum, either. Partly because it leaves out too many people--people like me. But I do recognize the elements of being liberal and those of being conservative. "Moderate" is fuzzy. Could be ambivalent. Could be less animated or less extreme. Could be a la carte. Could be civil and reasonable and collaborative. Could be lots of things. Obama oozes liberal out his pores. Hard to miss.
