Not quite. It was called National Sozialism well before he joined the party. While some of the early members advocated socialism, uncle Adolf was interested in different issues. Like antisemitism and nationalism.

In politics, it isn't a good idea to get hung up on labels. What policies, exactly, were socialistic?
