Seems to me that the economic issue has to trump the class issue. I mentioned Phyrric victory in an earlier post. It's of little value to make progress in the class war if, in the course of that, the company or the industry or the country fails. Re Delta pilots, I've been reading about the difficulty of working out seniority arrangements between Delta and Northwest unions. It's always something. The "looniest" union anecdote in my personal experience is when a union threatened employees in its bargaining unit with an unfair practice charge when the supervisors and the employees wanted to work out among themselves the seating arrangements in some new office space.
