Stories I hear of Chinese pollution from people who have been there are horrific.

I can personally attest to that.

Particulate pollution can block sun rays from reaching the earths surface and lead to cooling.

I trust you're not advocating spewing particulates as a remedy... <g>

Yup. There are a lot of people over there. If they bring their standard of living up to ours - what might happen to world pollution? GW? Natural resource prices? Hmmm? Will we have a right as a nation to order them to halt polluting if it starts to effect us?
