So Mary - what do we do? I submit - there is no answer consistent with world demographics and technical realities. I once worked in a small company where the president told one of the engineers that he was the best problem finder he had ever hired. But the problem was - the guy was hired to solve problems! Our country has a great number of problem finders - many of who are well paid to find the problems. I have been to scientific conference after conference where the conclusion of each paper was more research - I wonder why?
