JF, > He's a private citizen, he can do what he wants.

LOL, a "private citizen" with Secret Service protection and the prestige of being a former president of the United States.

If you haven't noticed, Carter has been doing "what he wants" for decades now. A real thorn in the side of the State department, e.g. North Korea and Haiti.

>>> He's a private citizen, he can do what he wants.

He is, but there is some responsibility that attaches to the ex-presidency, and Carter has shown himself time and again to be unable to handle that responsibility (just as he was unable to handle the responsibility of the presidency, itself).

I think there is realistically little to do about it, except be more careful to elect competent individuals in the future. You would never see a George Bush (41 or 43) or Ronald Reagan conducting himself in such an inappropriate manner.
