A problem of scale perception.

The Aden Sisters say that the S&L crisis caused losses of about 3% of GDP. This is appx. the same percentage of the expected losses from the latest fandango.

The S&L crisis looked awful while we were in it, but wasn't that bad, was it, in retrospect?

This is generally why I think Terminal Direness is not upon us, just a nasty patch with a dollop of inflation thrown in for good measure. All good for gold. And all that unceasing liquidity has to find a home, no? Might as well be the stock markets....puff, puff...
