Okay let's say there is a game of football, the Reds against the Blues.

The star running back for the Blues gets the ball handed to him, turns upfield, and promptly gets a vicious hit at the knees from the Blues' own center.

Naturally the crowd goes nuts, because though football is a very tough and physical game, in the normal course of a game a team's center does not try to take out his own running back's knees.

The next play the Blues running back gets the ball handed to him again, wisely avoids his own center, and gets hit very hard by the Reds team's linebacker.

The crowd does not go nuts, because the Reds team's linebacker is SUPPOSED to tackle the Blue team's running back.

Meanwhile a couple of confused fans in the stands wonder why the Blue fans reacted one way on the first play, and in a completely different way on the second play.

when the big boys go into action

As far as the impact of 527s go, I believe the public has grown wary of them so I'm hoping for the best. The only problem I see is that with Rezko, the Rs have actual facts on their side......not outrageous claims such as the Kerry swiftboaters.

I envision the Rs peeling off some voters with the Rezko attacks....it's just how many.

I also tend to think Obama can pull it out simply because the alternative, McCain, is so unattractive in spite of how close the polls make the fall race look.

It may come down to the MSM. Right now they're determined to support Obama regardless of his missteps, so if they stay on board, he probably can pull it out.

So how loyal will these pundits be is the question in my mind.
