The up side is that they ALL create good jobs and even will help GW.

Absolutely.

All I've been arguing against is diverting government priorities or burdening business when we may well be wasting our effort and money. There is a cost benefit curve on any pollution regulations. GW should not be an excuse to push regulation to the point of cost ineffectiveness especially if we're all going to cook anyway.

Creating jobs isn't an issue worth giving a lot of consideration. Its easy to create jobs, even jobs that have some level of utility to someone else besides the job holder. There are endless things that people would like to have done. There is always work to do. The problem is determining when the job makes economic sense. If alternative energy sources get investment only because of subsidies than you haven't determined that they make economic sense.

Also if you create jobs with subsidies, you destroy them with the taxes for the subsidies.
