KT,

It doesn't make much sense to give money to the Catholic Church until it gets its act together because a huge percentage winds up in the hands of lawyers either defending it or confiscating its assets. As far as I'm concerned that's like giving Satan a cut. ;-)

All my monetary donations go to animal care and preservation and institutions/people working to change our monetary system (usually education related). I also donate material things (clothes, books, furniture, old computers etc..) that I know will go directly to people that will benefit.

If I ever make a large contribution to a church, it will be the one I attended as a boy and it will come with strings attached. In other words, I'm going to dictate how it's spent. ;-)

Knighty,

i used to laugh at a guy who car pooled with me to community college. actually, we mostly went in his car and i kicked down gas money... i still remember his corolla with the air freshener well. he used to come over and use my mom's sewing machine to get his projects done.

well, he gets to laugh last as the clothing company he co-founded, enyce, sold for $114 meeeylun dollars to liz claiborne (not sure how long ago, i just found this out today).

anybody got a needle and some thread? ;-)

i remember him as "good people," though, so i guess good guys can come out ahead. either that or it is impossible to shaft all the good guys so a few end up making it.
