*My comments* were in reply to Peter's claim that 'Iran' supplied 'most' of the weapons....

As such I ran down a list of the major political/military/ethnic factions, trying to mention most of the important players, to show that they do not....

(I pointed out that the US military has never made any such claim about Iran supplying 'most' of the weapons... and that the Iranians, in any event, are not the weapons suppliers for the Sunnis... nor the Kurds... and that the Iranians have very friendly relations with *most* of the Shia groups --- including the Parties comprising the ruling Iraqi Government coalition, the SIIC and the smaller Dawa... and not just the Sadrists alone, who are temporarily unrepresented in the government only because they boycotted the last regional elections.)

So, Tim... are you wanting to not count the Sunni's opposing the occupation?

And / or actually count the Shia government as an 'insurgent' faction, <g>, to pump-up the number? (Note: 'insurgent' was not a word I used in my original reply... I am only using it now since you introduced it.)

Now, the factions comprising the Shia governing coalition certainly routinely play 'both sides against the middle', and receive backing and support from both the US and from Iran... but then, I guess, most everyone is out trying to advance their own interests.... (It's just that some are much smarter about how they go about it. :-)
