Replacing a chaotic and often unfair social order with a better organized, more humane (and centralized) society would require a lot of experts and very smart people. In politics, Leftist "intellectuals" with Ivy League credentials happen to fit the bill best. If they lose, that only proves again that Americans are too ignorant - and need to be better educated in social(ist) sciences, starting since childhood.

Or that the Democrats need a really, really good messenger to sway the rubes and make them see the light. Thus the excitement over Barack Obama.

We tried this with Woodrow Wilson, FDR, Kennedy, and Johnson sold enough of it to give us our "Welfare State."
