Not to mention the fact that once our children were legislated out of the factories and into schools, the industrial revolution in terms of innovation and advancement really took off.

We came very close to pure capitalism during the industrial revolution- and I think it was pretty horrible,. . .

Friedrich Engels book, The Condition of the Working Class in England in 1844, is a classic treatment of that. Still holds up well as historical analysis.
