I think a lot of the problems Bush had with intelligence were due to two factors. The destructive wall between agencies put in place by the Dems and

the failure of Bush to dump the previous (Clinton) administrations high level posts. As problems arose they were busy sweeping over their footprints. They even had the architect of the wall serving on the 911 Commission.

McCain revealed his true colours when he made his deal with the devil and flip-flopped on torture. I could understand how he might have some admirable characteristics back in '03. Now he has 0 credibility.
