i'm glad you still push this issue. i go in waves because the pressure builds up and nothing seems to get done. then some progress is made reinvigorating my efforts and i start volunteering again. writing letters, getting involved...u know the drill.

for me it's disgusting really. on so many levels. it becomes so hard to understand how anybody with an IQ over a 100 can't see the obvious. i mean, i understand and empathize with some of THEIR reservations...they can't do me the favor of AT LEAST giving my concerns some credit, some thought, something? Instead of the standard straw man arguments, and misdirected deductive reasoning that leads to "but what about the kids!" yeah. what about them?! pretty sure they are getting a prescription to Prozac because you would rather they sit in front of a TV than spend time with them.

whatever. i hope this nonsense goes away someday before i get to old.

speaking of straw man arguments we should start a list. then we could point by point pick apart why conservatives or republicans should consider counter arguments. What I've noticed is people will have different ideas about how government and the world works, so not all arguments can be effective. Trying to argue medical benefits with someone who refuses to believe that there is a not a real or perceived medical value is not the right strategy IMO. A better one is to relate to his own situation and try to find some common ground. this is what i attempted to do with GZ...we'll see if he even replies.

The hardest thing to combat seems to be apathy. Especially if they have never had any health problems. Most people don't give a shit if some "pot head" goes to jail. f'k 'em. why should they care?! This is the attitude that probably gets to me the most.
